What does flattening PDF forms do?expand_more
It converts all fillable form fields into static text embedded in the page. The form can no longer be edited after flattening.
Why would I flatten a PDF form?expand_more
To lock in the entered data before sharing, to ensure the form looks the same everywhere, or to reduce file size.
Can the form data be recovered after flattening?expand_more
No. Flattening is permanent. The filled values become part of the page content and the interactive fields are removed.
Does this work on all types of PDF forms?expand_more
Yes, including AcroForms and XFA forms. All field types, such as text boxes, checkboxes, and dropdowns, are flattened.
